Lacquer Lust Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Is it midweek yet??? I'm having on of those weeks where I feel like it should already be Friday, you know the kind? Where you come home from work and fall asleep on the sofa before bedtime! Anyway, time for some pretty nails to perk me up!!

Today I have one of the Lacquer Lust polishes I was lucky enough to score in the January restock when they were still offering international shipping direct from the Bigcartel store. I had only recently come across Lacquer Lust, I think it was the hype over Butt Bootie Naked that did it, however they have some very pretty and unique polishes.

One of the polishes I picked up was Chocolate Covered Strawberries which is from the Transitions collection, these polishes are colour changing thermal scattered holo's and apparently change colour with your body temperature. Chocolate Covered Strawberries is described as changing from a chocolate mauve when cold to a pink mauve when warm.

Firstly, this polish is absolutely gorgeous, I really really loved wearing it, unfortunately I wasn't able to get a colour change. I did think the colour change would be subtle, however I really couldn't detect anything at all. I don't know if I got a defective bottle or not, I tried running my hands under hot and cold water but really didn't get a detectable change in colour which was a shame but really didn't ruin the polish for me. If you want to see the colour shift Fashion Polish has some great swatches showing this that you can see here.

For these swatches I used 3 coats of Chocolate Covered Strawberries and a coat of HK Girl topcoat. I did get some black specks in the polish which would sort of drag out when I went over them with the brush, I don't know if they were anything to do with the colour changing pigment or not, they weren't enough to spoil the effect of the polish but you can see them in the photographs.

Overall I really liked this polish even though I was a little disappointed it didn't change colour. The formula was nice and the holo was really pretty. I have another of the transitions collection to show you  so hopefully I'll have more luck with the colour changing next time.

Lacquer Lust can be found on their Big Cartel site here, and they are also stocked on Harlow and Co here.  Be warned they sell out fast, you can keep up with restock information at the Lacquer Lust Facebook page here.

Enchanted Polish Shrimp Cocktail

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. It's been raining and miserable here but it's Saturday so I can always find something good!! I've been shopping for baby shower presents for my friend for next Saturday (such cuteness!), ordered pink and blue cupcakes for the occasion and grabbed a coffee with my BFF so it can't all be bad.

Today I have a bright and cheery polish to show you to life your spirits. As I'm sure you know by now Enchanted Polish has gone nuts recently but after much refreshing at the last restock I did manage to snag a Shrimp Cocktail amongst a few others. I love ordering directly from Enchanted Polish and Chelsea has fabulous customer service, I'm so pleased for her to see she is getting the recognition she deserves, I just hope she can keep making more to keep us all satisfied!

Shrimp Cocktail is a bit of an unusual polish from Enchanted as it isn't a holo or a glitter, but in fact it's a shimmer. This polish is a bright coral with tons of golden shimmer running through it. I had a really hard time taking pictures of this polish because for some reason my camera thinks it's orange and really it's not. Bright coral is a perfect description for this polish, I used 3 coats for the swatch here but I did find the formula to be a little more on the sheer side and I did have a little VNL still but I like it. This is one happy polish, not a usual one from Chelsea but I like the surprise, she keeps us on our toes!

Wing Dust Ocean Tears

Happy Monday!!

Sorry I have been a bit quiet of late. I have just been enjoying doing things around my house, clearing out and planning a new bit to my kitchen. In the past I've felt like the nail groups and polish have been taking over my evenings a bit so I've tried to take a little step back and spend some more time with my husband, cooking and reading books. It's been really nice but I will be still be posting so don't worry, in fact I am going to do my nails after this with a new Enchanted, so keep your eye out for that!

Today I have a post which I should have posted a while ago. I was lucky enough to order several Wingdust polishes several months ago. They arrived in the most beautiful wrapping and bags with a little bracelet and some candy, it really was a treat to receive and felt more like a swap than a purchase.

One of the polishes I received in that package was Wingdust Ocean Tears. This polish is a blue jelly filled with a combination of blue, turquoise and aqua hex glitters with silver holo micro glitters throughout. In person this polish was much prettier than the pictures can show, I really enjoyed it.

For these swatches I used 3 thin coats of Ocean Tears and one coat of HK Girl to smooth everything out. The formula was easy to work with and I was really impressed with this brand, I will be buying more I'm sure.

You can buy from Wingdust directly at the Etsy store here or from Llarowe here.

Jindie Nails Candy Land

Well, today I have a very spring time mani to show you. I've had this polish for several months and have been saving it for the spring, it reminds me of all the colours of flowers that start to pop up this time of year and that lovely fresh air when the air is still cold but the sun is peaking through.

This is Jindie Candy Land, yes you've probably heard of it and probably seen it elsewhere, I saw a swatch of it when it first came out and I knew I needed it. Candy Land is described as a cream/white jelly base with medium and large neon hex glitters and small neon glitters.

For these swatches I used 3 coats of Candy Land and a layer of HK Girl topcoat. I found the formula on this polish quite difficult, the base was reasonably thick, it reminded me of painting PVC glue base coat  but for me the problem was getting enough of the neon glitters where I wanted them on the nail, they did take quite a bit of placement for some nails. Overall the effect was very pretty, and even though I don't usually like white polishes on me I think this was a winner.

Dollish Polish Peter Cottontail

Happy Easter my lovelies!! Hope you have had lots of lovely choccies today and been up to something nice to celebrate.

Well as usual I'm behind on everything, I only just made my Easter baskets and I didn't get a chance to do the bunnies and eggs mani I had planned, but I do have an Easter mani to show you, and you know what? We even had something that resembles sunshine this morning so even though I lost an hours sleep because the clocks went forward, I can almost believe we may get a spring....

Anyway, on to the mani. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase Dollish Polish Peter Cottontail which was a Limited Edition produced by Dolly recently. I believe it was supposed to be limited to 100 bottles but the site oversold so there are actually 137 knocking about, mine is 84/100.

Peter Cottontail is described as a soft coral jelly filled with multi hued iridescent glitters in multiple shapes and sizes which gives the polish a true delicate glow. It looks pretty sheer to me so I decided to layer it. I actually wanted to do an ombre mani with it but I chose shades of peach and orange, a colour I actually don't have a ton of so I think I ended up with more of a skittle mani. Oh well, it was still pretty.

For this mani I used 2 coats of each base colour and 2 coats of Peter Cottontail over the top. Left to right: Barry M Peach Melba (LOVE!), Nails Inc Hobart Place, Nails Inc Mornington Crescent and an unnamed Color Club bright orange, which I believe may be Koo Koo Cachco. One layer of HK Girl smoothed this out and I'm just about to take it off after 3 days!

I think next time I'd like to try Peter Cottontail on his own to see if I can get that beautiful softness in the bottle to transfer to the nail.

So, which colour do you like best??
